Enabel shares Education Innovations at Educaid Conference - Uganda

2020-2021 will be remembered as a period when the world was confronted with the COVID-19 pandemic. For most of the world, economies were completely disrupted and learning institutions closed due to the lockdown. In Uganda, over 15 million learners lost contact with schools and for many, alternative ways of learning had to be devised.

In the lead up to World Teachers’ Day, Enabel took part in a 4-day Educaid digital conference on ‘The crucial role of all Education Heroes in the recovery phase post-COVID-19.’ The 2021 Educaid digital conference was aimed at contributing to the understanding of what resilient education systems really stand for and appreciating the key role education actors play in our societies.

For Enabel, participating in this conference was important because the Teacher Training Education (TTE) project is playing a key role in navigating the COVID-19 crisis to build back better a resilient education system in Uganda. From introducing new digital innovations in the National Teachers’ Colleges (NTCs) to training teachers and ensuring that they are protected and supported, the project is putting education at the very top of the recovery agenda.

Mugisha Cohens, a student-teacher at NTC Unyama, shares the efforts made by the TTE project to ensure the continuity of teaching and learning in the NTCs during school closures.
