In partnership with the European Union, Switzerland, and the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy, the Belgian Agency for International Cooperation Enabel announced in Ramallah the launch of the support pathway for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), under the SAWA 2 project. This pathway will be implemented through a grant agreement signed with Action Against Hunger (ACF) and the Small Enterprise Center (SEC), with funding from the European Union.The launch was attended by H.E. Eng. Mohammad Al-Amour, Palestinian Minister of National Economy; Mr. Mario Giuseppe Varrenti, Head of Cooperation at the Office of the EU Representative; Ms. Corinne Henchoz, Deputy Head of Cooperation, Switzerland; Mr. Vincent Viaene, Head of Cooperation and Deputy Consul General at the Consulate General of Belgium in Jerusalem; Ms. Heidi De Pauw, Country Director of Enabel in Palestine and Jordan; and Ms. Rhiain Moses, Deputy Country Director of Action Against Hunger. The event also brought together the Palestinian Federation of Industries, the Federation of Palestinian Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, and representatives of industrial unions, chambers of commerce, the private sector, and national and international institutions.Through this pathway, a total of 219MSEs will be supported to grow, expand, and create employment opportunities. The support will include an average financial grant of up to €7,000 per enterprise for 170 MSEs, in addition to technical assistance through specialized training and mentoring, legal and regulatory support, and facilitation of access to markets and financing opportunities.It is worth noting that the project “Enhancing the Resilience of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Creating Sustainable Job Opportunities in Palestine – SAWA 2” is funded by the European Union and Switzerland, with a total budget of €13.7 million, and will run until 2029. The project is implemented by the Belgian Agency for International Cooperation Enabel in partnership with the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy and several local and national institutions.
