Enabel organised a study visit to Belgium for VET & employment specialists from the Kyiv region. The 10-day visit, part of the BE-Relieve Ukraine programme, Open.Enabel - Belgian agency for international cooperation / Programme Ukraine, provided participants with fresh insights and new tools to bring the Ukrainian model closer to European standards.
Retraining opportunities for adults, comprehensive support for jobseekers in need of a career reboot, and a focus on people's needs rather than system requirements are just a few approaches participants plan to adopt from their Belgian counterparts.
For this visit, Enabel brought together representatives from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Kyiv Regional State Administration, State Employment Service, Kyiv Regional Employment Center, VET institutions, businesses, and trade unions to explore the Belgian vocational education and employment system.
During the study tour, the Ukrainian delegation:
✓ visited Centers of Vocational Excellence in the construction, energy, and technology sectors;
✓ learned about the operations of Belgium's regional employment services;
✓ collaborated on joint project concepts for regional labour market development.
"During the final two days of the visit, the delegates focused on strategic planning. They developed models for regional coordination of stakeholder engagement and created roadmaps for future Centres of Vocational Excellence supported by Enabel," shares Enabel VET & Skills Development expert Oleksandra Borodiyenko. "This practical approach ensures that participants will translate their insights into actionable strategies."
