Ukraine: Enabel hosts a Summer School on Vocational Excellence

  • Ukraine: Enabel hosts a Summer School on Vocational Excellence

In July 2026, Enabel brought together education professionals from 12 regions of Ukraine for a Summer School on Vocational Excellence in Lviv.

Over the course of a week, 44 representatives of future Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) exchanged best practices and refined their strategies for transforming VET institutions.

The training built on the ongoing partnership between Enabel and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Earlier, the Belgian agency for international cooperation supported an online programme for VET leaders delivered by VIVES University of Applied Sciences, as well as a study visit to Bruges.

Throughout the Summer School, participants explored the role of CoVEs as drivers of regional economic development, examined effective models of cooperation with the private sector, and looked into opportunities for international exchange.

A strong focus was placed on analysing self-assessment results using the ETF-developed ISATCOVE framework, followed by presentations of CoVE concepts. The next step is the development of institutional transformation programmes.

Representatives from Kyiv and Chernihiv regions presented successful cases of collaboration with employers and donors. Educators also worked on innovative solutions to engage girls and women in skilled trades, with a view to future grant support under the WLICT project.
