Project summary

Budibugyo District is located in Western Uganda on the northern face of the Rwenzori Mountains. As a result of difficulties in access, insurgency and other factors, Bundibugyo District Local Government has not made the same degree of progress in meeting the objectives of its population compared to other local governments in the region. The Bundibugyo Integrated Development Programme (BIDP) aims at supporting Uganda's decentralization process in Bundibugyo by contributing to the strengthening of the local authorities' capacity to improve service delivery to the population.

General objective

To improve the standard of living of the people in the district especially those who are most vulnerable to poverty

Specific objective

The development and the implementation of Bundibugyo District's rolling 3-years District Development Plan is supported by improving the financial and service management and governance
An inclusive participatory planning, budgeting and monitoring mechanisms is operationalized
Local revenue collection to sustain investments is improved
Capacity of local government and other local stakeholders to ensure proper delivery of services is improved
Public and community investments prioritised in the District and Sub-county Development Plan are implemented with the provision of unconditional block grants to the district
