The AEDIB2 project aims to strengthen the digital and green transitions between Africa and Europe, laying the foundation for a future single market for digital innovation across both continents. It also seeks to position the European Union as Africa’s preferred partner in this transformation. Underpinned by robust research and innovation policy, the initiative will drive digital transformation in Africa by scaling digital businesses and fostering a supportive ecosystem for digital innovation. It builds on established frameworks, mechanisms, and partnerships that already link the two regions.
The action focuses on enhancing science, technology, and innovation policies that promote digital entrepreneurship and sustainability, while deepening collaboration between Africa and Europe. It also works to develop and interconnect digital innovation ecosystems that support these transitions. To ensure sustainable growth, the initiative promotes early-stage and alternative financing mechanisms, unlocking capital for emerging digital solutions that contribute to both economic development and climate goals.
