This project will build upon on-going agreements which have already provided Greece with permanent support in the area of tax administration and customs reorganisation. Long term resident experts with a proven track-record and relevant expertise not easily available in Greece will provide expertise in a variety of core areas (audit, notably large taxpayers and high wealth individual audit, debt collection, tax fraud investigation, fight against excise fraud and smuggling) where Greece still lacks crucial expertise. This hands-on support needs to be supplemented by a capacity-building effort, aiming at raising the skill level of the revenue administration staff, notably through the establishment of a training capacity.
General objectives: The project will support the General Secretariat for Public Revenue (soon to become Independent Authority for Public Revenue) in its reform process. It will build capacity in the Greek revenue administration by improving the core processes of tax and customs administration.
