District Vice Councilor Mr. Stephen Petro Mtayana emphasizes
the importance of environmental care in combating climate change and unlocking opportunities through bee reserves. In Choda village, part of the
EU-funded BEVAC project, 19 villages, including Choda, are working to establish
new Bee reserves. This initiative spans 8 villages in Kigoma, 3 in Katavi, 2 in
Tabora, and 6 in Singida.
Beekeeping in Tanzania, often in protected
areas, will gain formal recognition through these reserves, ensuring
sustainable production of honey and bee products. A significant 53,527 hectares
of forest land will be conserved and legally acknowledged as a beekeeping reserve.
