Wehubit 2.0: Scaling impact through digital social innovation
Wehubit 1.0, funded by the Government of Belgium, was Enabel’s flagship innovation programme from 2018 to 2023. It supported the scaling of 27 digital social innovations across 13 Enabel partner countries. The programme aimed to enhance the adoption and accessibility of digital solutions as key enablers of inclusive and sustainable development, reducing inequalities and empowering communities.
Building on this legacy, Wehubit 2.0 was launched in 2024. This second phase continues to promote digital social innovation and is supported, among other programmes, by the Enabel Innovation Hub, a newly established mechanism to identify, source, and support impactful innovations aligned with the priorities of Enabel’s country portfolios.
Under Wehubit 2.0, two digital social innovations that are ready to scale are currently being supported. These were selected through a Belgium-funded Call for Proposals on “digital social innovations as a vehicle for accelerating inclusive and sustainable development.”
Beyond financial support, Wehubit 2.0 includes a strong focus on knowledge exchange and capacity building. This pillar encourages partner organisations to actively apply the programme’s guiding principles and take concrete steps toward ensuring the sustainability and long-term impact of their projects.
