Résumé projet

The overall objective of the IMPAWLA project (Improved access to Justice for Women through Legal Aid) is to accelerate the progress towards gender equality and women and girls’ empowerment in Tanzania. This project aims to increase access to justice for all, in particular for women, to safeguard their civil, economical and political rights.

It will ensure more equity among citizens and increased public trust in (local) institutions, using an approach that combines both demand and supply side initiatives: citizen-based advancement of rights and awareness building, and behavioural change of, in particular, local government institutions towards increased appreciation of human rights, and facilitation of legal aid to women and vulnerable people in the country. The LSF terminology (Legal Services Facility) in this regard refers to creating a “conducive environment” for legal aid and legal empowerment.
