  • Ukraine: Enabel inaugurates the first Care for Carers recovery space

Enabel, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, is establishing dedicated recovery spaces for medical staff in six hospitals across Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. The initiative is part of Care for Carers, led by Enabel, which supports the wellbeing of healthcare professionals.

With support from Belgium, hospital teams are also receiving training in stress and burnout prevention. This spring, more than 60 professionals have already completed self-care training. The first Care for Carers space has opened at Koriukivka Hospital in the Chernihiv region.

Designed to promote rest and recovery, the space features calming tones, natural materials, and greenery. A combination of natural and adaptive lighting helps reduce sensory overload and create a restorative environment.

The space is organised into five functional zones:

  • an art therapy area
  • a space for low-intensity physical activity
  • a coffee corner
  • a relaxation area with a massage chair
  • a quiet zone with a psychologist-curated library
A second phase of stress prevention training will soon take place at the hospital, this time delivered within the new space itself.
