Résumé projet | |
The Digital for Development (D4D) Hub is a strategic platform that aims to strengthen digital cooperation between the European Union and its Member States (Team Europe) and partners in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the EU neighbouring countries. Our joint mission is to promote a human-centric approach to the digital transformation. We do so by fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration, boosting investments, facilitating dialogue, and increasing coordination. The D4D Hub was launched in December 2020 by the President of the European Commission, European Heads of State and partners representing the private sector, academia, and civil society organisations. 11 EU Member States (Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the Netherlands) joined the D4D Hub upon its launch. Slovenia became a member in 2021, while Italy, Romania, and Latvia joined in 2023. Croatia became the D4D Hub's newest member in 2024. Initially focused on Africa, the D4D Hub has also been launched in Latin America and the Caribbean (December 2021), Asia-Pacific (February 2022), and the EU neighbouring countries (October 2023). The D4D Hub is now active in all of these regions with the purpose of strengthening digital cooperation. Global Gateway In December 2021, the European Union launched the Global Gateway, a new strategy to boost smart, clean, and secure links in digital, energy, and transport sectors and to strengthen health, education, and research systems across the world. As part of this strategy, the European Union and its Member States have committed to mobilising up to €300 billion of investments for sustainable and high-quality projects, considering the needs of partner countries and ensuring lasting benefits for local communities. The D4D Hub is a key instrument for the European Union and its Member States to achieve the ambitions under the Global Gateway. It does so by providing a platform to increase coordination and dialogue and incubate joint initiatives, investments, and innovations in the digital field.
