Résumé projet

The Government of Uganda has prioritised a Water/Environment Sector Response Plan to provide the much-needed framework for integrated planning and implementation of environment related activities in refugee-hosting districts.

The Response to Environmental Degradation and Protection of Alternative Energy Sources in Refugee Hosting Communities named the ENAPRO project has been designed as a direct, fully aligned and explicit development contribution to its implementation.

The overall objective of this project is to increase environmental protection and restoration, to improve sustainable energy for improved livelihoods and rights among displaced populations and their host communities and finally, to improve coordination, planning and capacities on environment and climate change in refugee hosting areas.

Objectif général

The overall objective, which is in line with the Common Refugee Response Framework (CRRF) in Uganda and the Water/Environment Sector Response Plan, is to increase environmental protection and forest restoration and improve sustainable energy use by displaced populations and their host communities in refugee hosting areas.

Objectifs spécifiques

A - Improved access to sufficient, healthier, sustainable and alternative sources of energy, increased capacity to construct and maintain these, decreased dependence on energy from unsustainable and unregulated sources for households and causes of conflicts between refugees and host communities are addressed
B - Energy, environment and climate action programming, coordination and capacity is strengthened at local, district government and sub-county levels
